The concept to found the European Centre of Remembrance, Education and Culture Meetingpoint Music Messiaen Zgorzelec-Gölitz on Stalag grounds has, without doubt, a timeless dimension and offers Europe and its people an alternative way to remember human fate and tragedies during WWII. Remembering the origins of POW camp Stalag VIII A through underlining regional history, and engaging into dialogue, using art as our language, will enable the development of a consciousness of a common cultural identity. This German-Polish project of a binational memorial Centre in the twin-city of Görlitz-Zgorzelec is unique and symbolizes Europe growing closer on a regional and international level.
